What apprenticeship are you doing?
I completed level 2 and level 3 qualifications in logistics whilst working as a Seafreight Operator.

Why did you join Kuehne + Nagel?
I had been looking for an apprenticeship after completing my A levels as I decided I did not want to go to university. I chose to join as it was clear that upon completion of my apprenticeship there were plenty of opportunities for progression.

What has been the best part of your apprenticeship so far?
The knowledge gained. My formal training given as part of my apprenticeship was a huge benefit; this is not just specific to the job but also the transferable skills that would be required in any workplace. I was also extremely lucky to work with a wide range of people who were happy to share their knowledge with me.

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve you learnt during your apprenticeship?
Finding out about the wide range of products that are shipped around the world, as an apprentice I handled all kinds of shipments like chocolate to Australia or pharmaceutical products to Ghana. These are things that you don’t even consider when buying products. 

What’s the hardest thing about doing an apprenticeship?
Time management, you have to manage to complete the coursework for the apprenticeship alongside the day to day job. You soon get used to this though.

What advice would you give someone else looking to start an apprenticeship at Kuehne + Nagel?
Go for it work hard and take advantage of any opportunities given. During my time at Kuehne + Nagel both whilst on the apprenticeship and after completing I have learnt a huge amount, made some great friends and visited places I would probably not have.
