Why did you want to work in Logistics?

When I was looking for graduate opportunities I knew I wanted to find something that I’d really be interested in and could be passionate about. I have always had an interest in all manner of vehicles and previous employers had suggested that logistics would be complimentary to my skill set. This encouraged me to find out more about the industry and I was really impressed by the variety of career pathways that logistics can offer.

What did you enjoy most about the graduate programme?

I really valued the opportunity to work in a variety of different areas before moving into my final role. It gave a chance to properly understand how the business operated, the roles available and which area would be best for my skill set, experience and interests.

Where are you now?

I finished the programme in August 2018 and have just started my first main role as a specialist operator with Overland Engine Chain. It’s a great role working for our Rolls Royce contract and each day I get to plan and move a variety of wide and oversized loads including aircraft engines. My managers have supported my development throughout the graduate programme and continue to do so as I get settled in my new role and set targets to progress my career to the next level.

What advice would you give to future graduates?

Kuehne + Nagel support the graduate scheme really well right from the top of the business down. The variety of programmes and areas within each programme means it is easy to find a role that suits your skill set. Kuehne + Nagel places a huge importance on your development through your placement work, development workshops, professional qualifications and exposure to senior managers that you undertake throughout the scheme.
