We understand that the thought of relocating can be daunting, especially if you are being asked to do it several times in a two-year period. Some of you may have relocated for university, where the city has been of your choosing and the accommodation already set out for you.
Some of you may not have had to move away from home before at all! So we get that the thought of relocating may not initially appeal to you. However at KN we believe that if you are able and willing to relocate, you are opening yourself up to endless opportunities.
Our graduate programmes all consist of rotational business placements, many of which will require you to relocate. Have a read of the below to find out why we think this is a good thing, and what support we can offer you.
Why should you be flexible on location?
Kuehne + Nagel UK has over 100 strategic locations nationwide, all of which offer something slightly different, whether it be the environment, the operation, or the people. This means that we can offer you a wide variety of experiences throughout your two-year graduate programme.
We’ll give you the opportunity to work at different locations across the UK so that you are exposed to a range of business areas, contracts, customers and teams. This enables you to develop your understanding of the business, allows you to build a network which spans the entire organisation, and ultimately puts you in good stead for a long and successful career with KN. Is it challenging? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely.
What support will we offer you?
As you’ll see from the programme details, some of our programmes have set locations where your rotational placements will be based, and some are more flexible. In either case, we are committed to confirming your first placement location at the point of making the offer to you. This could be your location for 12 months, for some programmes it will be eight months, or maybe six months. For some of our programmes, your further business placements are also set locations, however some are unknown and these will be decided as you move through the programme. We will endeavour to tell you as early as possible which location you will be heading to next.
We also have some handy location guides we will provide to you, which will tell you a bit about the area you are moving to, and help you get started with the relocation process. We also have a relocation support hotline which you can call at any time with any queries you may have. Finally, we will put you in touch with previous graduates who have relocated to that area before, and you can find out how it worked for them, and pick up some hints and tips.
What commitment do we need from you?
We need you to be willing to undertake placements at different locations across the UK, in order to provide you with the best possible graduate experience. We want you to really get the most from your graduate programme, and to ensure you have the required knowledge and skills to secure a permanent role with us at the end of your programme.
