null UK Global Traffic Policy Public Consultation launched
On Thursday 6 February, the Department for International Trade (DIT) launched a public consultation on the UK’s future Most Favoured Nation (MFN) Tariff Policy. The consultation will be open for four weeks and will close on Thursday 5 March. Representatives from Kuehne + Nagel attended a meeting with the Department of Transport last week where we were all asked to share the detail of this consultation with our customers.
As a logistics provider, freight forwarder, Customs Intermediary etc., we will have limited influence over either the input or the conclusion, as we will just be the one part of industry that will have to facilitate the outcome, however, you can.
We encourage you to provide your views to ensure your interests are factored in when the work is being done in the development of a UK Global Tariff. If you wish to participate, please respond via the online questionnaire on GOV.UK website, click here to open the page - outlining the possible impacts (costs and benefits) on business, consumers and the economy of amending/not amending the tariff.Your input, particularly if the tariff(s) you use and the associated MFN duty rate will have a negative economic impact if it is not zero rated or at least reduced as much as possible, will be extremely valuable.
As always, I hope this information proves to be useful.
