Due to the unprecedented scale of the disruption, which has led to serious port congestion and equipment shortages in global shipping markets, we once again faces significant capacity reduction and serious equipment shortage all over Europe.
Shipping lines are deprioritizing UK import volumes, and are choosing to return containers back to Asia empty to accelerate equipment supply in Asia with some closing down certain UK export markets altogether; this is further compounding an already critical situation
In order to build critical flexibility into the supply chain, opening up alternative alliance / routings, we will reintroduce our Blue Anchor line Coronavirus Emergency Surcharge (CES) effective 1st December as follows:Important: From 1st December, the CES charge is applicable in addition to any Peak Season Surcharge, Congestion Surcharge and equipment Imbalance charge.
We would like to inform you, that capacity & equipment reduction is expected to result in space shortage as well as foreseen to affect the lead times in wide scale on the respective markets, thus kindly ask you to calculate with delays and review the planning of your supply chain.
We will monitor the situation very closely and stay in close dialogue with carriers to provide you the highest service excellence possible, in the future too.
Please contact your local Kuehne+Nagel office if you need any further information.
