The Carbon Literacy Project, a globally recognised initiative, provides comprehensive education on climate change, carbon footprints, individual contributions to carbon reduction, and the importance of these actions. Kuehne+Nagel’s participation in this programme underlines its dedication to creating a sustainable future.

“As part of our commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint we have designed a unique Carbon Literacy course tailored specifically for the logistics sector,” said Kate Broome, Kuehne+Nagel Sustainability and Social Impact Director. “We are proud to announce that this course is the first Carbon Literacy accredited programme focused on logistics.”

The company's Carbon Literacy journey began with an event hosted in collaboration with Phil Korbel from The Carbon Literacy Project, which received an enthusiastic response from Kuehne+Nagel colleagues. The company now has a team of trainers, engaging the wider colleague network and taking them through this comprehensive course, and extending our commitment to sustainability.

“When it comes to addressing climate change, we understand that the key to success lies in empowering our colleagues to take action,” Antonia O'Neill, National Sustainability and Innovation Manager at Kuehne+Nagel explained. “Carbon Literacy training creates a platform for our colleagues to be inspired to make meaningful contributions to our decarbonisation goals.”

Looking ahead, Kuehne+Nagel is committed to rolling out Carbon Literacy training to more colleagues in the years to come as part of its ongoing efforts to attain higher levels of accreditation. By achieving Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation accreditation, Kuehne+Nagel reaffirms its commitment to a sustainable future and sets an example for organisations within the logistics sector and beyond.

This training session was a game-changer! It was intense, but the insights gained sparked a fire in my belly to make a change. Exploring my lifestyle's footprint was eye-opening, and the course highlighted ways to revolutionise the logistics industry towards sustainability.
