The team were excited when they were contacted by the International Wine Challenge and asked to arrange a shipment on behalf of Yang Lu, Group Director of Wine for Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
Yang Lu is the first ever, and currently the only, Chinese Master Sommelier in the world.
China is now the fifth largest consumer of wine in the world, so focus and dedication is being applied in producing and growing their offering on the world stage.
The drinks team was asked to arrange collection, customs formalities and movement by air of a selected number of Chinese wines and deliver this to the Shard for an exclusive masterclass.
The timeline was extremely tight for several reasons, including delayed availability of the wine and Chinese New Year.
