McLaren needed a solution that could protect a very precious car while it was transported from Hong Kong to London. With limited time reduced flight options due to Covid-19 and special handling requirements the Kuehne+Nagel team was challenged to find a tailor-made solution within a short time-frame.
Putting their knowledge and expertise together, the Kuehne+Nagel teams in the UK and in Hong Kong worked together to design the best solution for this 1994 McLaren F1 car.
Due to the short time-frame and high value of the vehicle it was decided the racing car would be shipped via air cargo and that the Kuehne+Nagel finished vehicle specialist team would oversee every step of the vehicle transportation to ensure a smooth transition and preparation for the flight.
Working with a high calibre car transport company and a DG professional, the 1994 McLaren F1 car was collected from the dealership in Hong Kong and transported to the airport. Before being loaded onto the plane, all compliance checks were done on the car and the Dangerous Goods Declaration was completed.
The racing car was then successfully lifted on the direct flight from HKG to LHR as planned and the car was successfully handed over to the consignee in the UK within 24 hours of the flight arrival.
