Kuehne+Nagel has successfully navigated through to the finish line of the first season as the official logistics partner for SailGP. Despite all the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, our team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything was delivered on time.
The SailGP Season 2 started in Bermuda, where Kuehne+Nagel delivered their first container and finished in San Francisco a year later. The Season saw Australia crowned SailGP champions and New Zealand taking the ‘Podium for the Planet’ as winners of the Impact League, a first-in-sport, which sees teams compete across ten sustainability criteria to compete for the final prize - $100k for their purpose partner.
We have been able to utilise tools such as seaexplorer to explore various routing options to meet both environmental and logistics requirements.
Kuehne+Nagel successfully offered carbon neutral logistics solutions - exploring alternative fuels, both biofuel and HVO during the season. This is representative of our partnership and collective goal with SailGP to minimise the carbon footprint of the sail racing league’s transport.
We are honoured to be part of the race to the future with SailGP and look forward to a challenging third season ahead, sailing closer toward net zero carbon.
